I have spent nearly 6 months researching which HDTV to buy and where to buy it. I narrowed it down to Sears or OneCall.com. Most of the reviews that I read were very positive for OneCall, so I decide to give them my business.
They had the better price and free shipping. I placed my order for a Sony KP57HW40, 3 year extended warranty and Avia guide to home theater. The TV was on back order but wanted to lock in on the promotional price with free shipping. So I placed the order over the phone with OneCall on Jan 3, 2002. OneCall said that the HDTV was back ordered until Jan 15, 2002. I told them that was fine and to contact me when it shipped. On Jan 17th, I hadn't heard from OneCall. So I called them to check on the status of my order. The person that answered the phone said the HDTV was on still on back order and might be in stock on Jan 22 and hung up the phone on me. I then sent OneCall an e-mail telling them that I would be out of town the first week of February and asked when my order would arrive if it went out on the 22nd. I didn't want to be gone when my order arrived. As of Jan 19, I hadn't gotten a response from OneCall. So I called Jason at Onecall to tell him my situation. He said that my order was shipped on Jan 15 and asked if anyone had contacted me to arrange delivery. I told him no one had contacted me but was delighted to hear that my order was shipped and would arrive before I went out of town. He gave me all the information to set up delivery. (If you decide to use OneCall, go through Jason). I called the shippers and they told me my order was 1 day away and would be delivered on Jan 21.
I received my order in perfect condition with the Avia back ordered. I received the Avia about a week later in good order.
I received my credit card bill and noticed that I was charged twice for the Avia disk. So, I call OneCall again to get this corrected. The person that answered the phone said that it was impossible to get billed twice. I told him just to humor me and check on it. He told me again that it was impossible. I told him that it wasn't impossible because I got charged twice. In a rude voice he asked for my phone number and checked on the order. He came back on the phone and said, you are right the order was double billed. He said he would contact billing and get it straightened up.
To make a long story come to an end, here is my experience with OneCall. If you order from them, use Jason. Call and check on your order often. Mine was shipped and nearly at its destination and OneCall said it was still on back order. It wouldn't have bothered me if it was small item, but a $3,000 TV is another story.
OneCall needs to call or e-mail when the order is shipped and they need to get rid of the person that I talked to on the phone. He was the same guy that hung up on me the first time and then told me that it was impossible to get charged twice. I asked for his name and during this last call and he wouldn't give it to me and hung up again.
Final words on OneCall:
Good Selection on their website and great prices.
Customer service is pathetic at best unless you use Jason.
My order did arrive with out a scratch.
Will I order from them again. Probably not. I am still waiting to see if they correct the double billing.
