I haven't gotten a job yet, but I think it has something to do with the global economy being in the toilet.
Now that Headhunter is the same as CareerBuilder, many of the services are joined. They do have seperate sites and seperate subscription services so it will definately benefit you to have accounts at both...at least for now.
Unlike CareerBuilder, which cloggs my inbox with all the jobs it finds in my searches, Headhunter simply emails me a notice that it found X number of matches for Y search. It gives a brief description for the first few, providing a direct link to each one. It also has a link to view all the listing that matched your search criteria. I like this notification much better than any of the other career sites.
Headhunter allows you to post 5 resumes with profiles. The profiles are important so that you can target your resume better. Unlike Monster.com, which has a global profile for you and 1 resume, each resume on Headhunter is searchable and each resume has an independent profile. For tweekers like me, this is GREAT. I can play with different profiles and resumes to see which ones are at least being looked at. The best part is it keeps stats on each one. You can see which resumes matched searches done by employers and how many times it matched. It even tracks how many times your resume was clicked, a much more important stat.
***KEY: Update your resume and profile EVERY day!! Yes, I said every day. You don't need to make changes, just go to your resumes and click edit. When you get to the edit screen, just click save if you don't want to make any changes. If you are a tweeker too, make a small change and see what happens. The deal is that when an employer or recruiter is searching, they have an option for how fresh of resume they want. Most will choose most recent. You want to be sure your's is always on the most recent list.
Other than that, Headhunter is much like the others. It offers career advice, but I've not looked at it. It also offers pay services like resume distribution.
