Refi with Quicken Loans
Written: Sep 06 '11 (Updated Sep 06 '11)
I was contacted by Quicken Loans, who had done a 30 year to 15 year refi a little over a year ago. They offered to drop my rate a quarter percentage point and pay all of the closing costs. Additionally, they arranged for the new term to be 14 years so I'm didn't expand the term. Additionally, I asked them to roll in a higher rate piggy back loan (of which I couldn't refi by itself) and they they complied.
The drop in the rate lowered my monthly payment of course even though the piggy back was originally for a longer term. The big savings is over the life of the loan in about 60k of amortized reductions.
During the process I dealt with about four different individuals from various processing teams but that wasn't really a problem. All of them seemed up to speed on recent conversations so they must do a good job of taking notes.
Their online tool for submitting documents and reviewing material was really nice as it eliminated the need to fax a ton of stuff. Plus, having electronic copies of the material is handy.
The closing was easy an convienent as they sent a notary to my house on a Saturday due to my work travel.
I would recommend Quicken Loans to anyone considering a mortgage or refinance.
I received a $5 gift card for writing this review, regardless of whether I had a positive or negative experience.
