One year, 22 video games, 8 books, 3 music CDs, and 14 movies later, I have continued to be a very satisfied shopper with Half.com. Let me say this first and foremost, I highly recommend this online shopping experience to you the consumer.
Half.com is a dandy online store to find all sorts of books, music, movies, video games, electronics, and other things at a much lower price than you may find elsewhere. This is due to the fact that they allow regular people such as you and I to sell our treasures on their site.
Many of use can not have garage sales or yard sales to peddle our "used" stuff to others. I for one live so far out in the country, no one could possibly find me if I were to have a yard sale. That is where Half.com comes in. Now, you can not sell everything on there but you can certainly sell those things that tend to clutter up the house. Books and movies are my downfall. I buy them and then can't always seem to find a place for them once I am finished reading or watching them. Now I can just list them with Half.com for a fraction of the price I gave for them and give someone else the opportunity to enjoy them.
Signing up as a member to buy or sell is very simple. You give them your name and address, both shipping and billing. List a credit card with them and checking account routing and account number and then list your stuff. Keeping your prices low is key here to selling them. You can ask whatever price you would like but you are not likely to have too much biting going on if you try to get your money back. So if you intend on selling, keep it cheap.
Another thing that you will want to remember is to ship your goods in a timely manner. You get rated on quality as you represented it and how quickly you handled a persons order. Do what you say you will do! When you set your prices, Half.com sets a shipping allowance with your items that will be included in the order so that you will not have any out of pocket shipping expenses. Half.com will retain a small amount for commissions.
So you don't care about selling your stuff huh? You just looking for something to buy at a cheap price? This is just the place for you. I have purchased many items through them and though I know that people have had instances where they did not get what they expected or did not receive what they ordered in a timely manner, I can not say that I have ever had that problem. I am completely satisfied with everything that I have ordered and received.
One thing that I would like to caution you about is this: Please make sure you check up on the seller. There are comments available and most of the upstanding sellers will have many of them. See what others have had to say about them. Check to see if there have been any problems with delivery or what have you. You just may want to try to buy from another seller. Be careful!
My orders come to me so fast that I wonder if they were standing at my mailbox with item in hand waiting for me to order it. Seriously, I have always found my items ordered waiting for me within a week after purchase. Very reliable. Impressive.
When you do buy something from Half.com, you will find ratings for the product, from excellent to poor. Most sellers will list any defects or wear and tear of the item so that you will know before you order it. I have yet to be mislead.
Site navigation is fast and flowing. I have not encountered any issue with load time. I do not recall ever having seen an image not load and 99% of the time have found exactly what I was seeking. I always check at Half.com before anywhere else. I know that if they have it, it will save me time and money.
Right now they claim listings of over 100 million items. I believe it too. Try it for yourself. If you have never been there, I believe you are going to love it.
I love the way they have customer service set up. They have what they call "The Help Wizard". When you get there you will see a page that contains three boxes. One has a selection of common problems and you just click on one of those and then in the second box you select the sub category for that problem. In the third box you select the question that most accurately describes your problem. You will then be swept away to a page that will contain your answer. I think most times this will do the trick but if not they offer the standard ways of contact.
Final thoughts about Half.com.
Try them out before you go out there and pay full price for something you may find here that will be new or near new condition. You may save yourself a lot of bucks by doing so. Or put that old book, movie, vcr, or whatever up for sale on there and see how you do. You may be very glad that you did.
