Pros: Lightweight, compact, fast, easy to use. It's laid out with the user in mind.
Cons: The RAM is not expandable to over 256MG.
The Bottom Line: Look at the systems out there and see what is offered. But also take a good look at the HP z1130. You'll find a better deal with the HP.

I've wanted a laptop for a long time and finally bought one in January of 2002. No regrets at all. Being handicapped, it's difficult to get around and to sit at a desk for long periods of time. With the laptop I can lay in bed or in my recliner and have the computer there. Also, with an extra phone cord I can jump on to the internet from almost anywhere. To move the computer around I just put it on the tray for the walker and roll where ever I want to go.
The keys are a "normal" size for ease of use. The the built-in mouse has an "ON/OFF" switch so that you are not hitting the pad while trying to type. The "One Touch" programable buttons make for easy jumping to different programs without having to go to "Start" and "Program" and so on. Volume control couldn't be easier, it has a blue "FN" key for all kinds of shortcuts.
Some of the features include three USB ports, an output for a desktop monitor, an S-video output for watching DVD's on your television. Also included in the features are two stereo outputs, one on the side for headphones and one in the back for external speakers, although you can put headphones in either output. There is also a plug-in for a microphone.
Another nice feature is that the DVD/CD-RW can be removed simply by sliding one button over and pulling the unit out. This is for when your are traveling and don't want to damage the laser. You can also use this so you can chage to different drives. On one side there is a port for plugging in different pieces of equipment.
Also, having never worked with Windows XP for the home, I was mildly surprised in how easy it was to use. The help library makes operational manuals obsolete. What you want to know and how it do it is just a keystroke away.
When it comes time to shut down, the system gives you four choices, Turn off, Standby, Restart and Hibernate. Hibernate is neat in that when you shut down for the time being, the system will start where you left off. Like if you're in the middle of a paper that you were typing, when you restart it will still be there for you to continue to type instead of having to restart the whole program.
