Good buy for its price but...

Pros:The price is great- very cheap!
Cons:Not sure how durable it really is.
The Bottom Line: For those with limited budget, this gadget works BUT BE READY for surprises. I remind myself to be gentle with it and not put high expectations on its performance.
I bought this Artec CD-RW wanting to upgrade my computer by installing a second CD drive (this time a writer) but having a limited budget. This model was recommended by my supplier with a matching Nero software at an incredibly low price and better features compared to other CD-RW.
It worked fine for about 3 usages according to its speed of 8x for the CD-R copy (Direct CD, or data from HD). Then the succeeding copies after the first three CDs that I made contained errors... it could not cope copying on this 8x speed. Take note that the same brand and quality of CD-Rs were used in all these procedures which are capable of 8x speeds. Finally after its 10th use, it refused to copy and read. It also brought out a "false message" that the CD copy was successfully done. Only to find out, the folders it created are all empty or unreadable or corrupted! There were a number of CD-R discs that I destroyed in the process.
Being under warranty, I returned it to my supplier and the Artec service office had it repaired. They returned it to me after 2 weeks and it is now able to read and copy but I limit only the copying speed to 2x at most to avoid any further waste of CD-R lest these get damaged.
