My Aug, 17, 2011 purchase included a coupon valued at $15. The promotional code was applied to the transaction during checkout and that should have been the end of it. However, the receipt emailed to me later that night did not reflect the $15 savings. I immediately logged in to my account summary thinking it was an oversite but saw that the savings did not appear in the transaction details, despite being accepted at the time of purchase. Evidently, someone had removed the discount! I sent them an email explaining the situation and was told "Very sorry but that code is not one that we offer." I was baffled by this statement because the coupon not only was accepted and reflected in the subtotal during checkout, but it was being advertised as well. As a matter of fact, the discount ($15 off $75) is still running through the rest of this year.
Although I am not inclined to make a big stink about such a small sum, the principle is what concerns me here. This entire thing could have been avoided with just some common sense and good business practice, but they chose to be grimy about it so here we are.
This has been a complete waste of my time, and since they grossly mishandled the transaction from the beginning, I am compelled to spend even more time writing a negative review here. Since this has unduly cost me money, ostensibly through fraud, I will be reporting this matter to the BBB and the NY State Attorney General's office. Needless to say, I will no longer be doing business with Garden.com or any of its affiliates.
