Target took my order and failed in every way possible!

So as you all know, Target launched its new Missoni line on 9/13/201. I was online early and placed an order. I actually received an email acknowledging my order and giving an estimated ship date. I heard that the site later went down, but no one emailed to say that the orders that went through would not be fulfilled. Today I called Target trying to find my order (as it was several days late)! I was told- I can see your order and see that it came in on the 13th. The items aren't available but you can go online and re-order if and when they become available. What?!!! Really??? This is the response of Target? Isn't there something you can do for your customers who placed orders to make sure that when an item becomes available their orders get fulfilled first and they don't have to go through that horrible shopping experience again? No...we can't put in a pre-order! You just have to shop as items become available online! My local hardware store can put in a pre-order! This is the end of my relationship with Target! What a great opportunity for retailers like TJMAX and Wal-mart. It really make you appreciate good customer service.
