Pros: Location on Paradise Island
Cons: This Hotel is definetly for the budget minded. Musty smell in hallways and faulty drains.
The Bottom Line: This property is generally OK with the exception of the rooms. I was very disappointed.

Hotel Review - December 2001
Hotel Discount rate $59 per nite plus taxes. *
Normal rate this time of year $89. plus tax and gratuity*
*(taxes and gratuities run approximately $20 per nite)
This rate sometimes goes up to nearly $200. This property is not worth the expense.
This Hotel is definetly for the budget minded. This is NOT a luxury hotel, and there are limited and sparce amenities.
The Hotel is within walking distance of Atlantis, Sheraton B each, the Cloisters, Versailles Gardens and the Ferry Boat Docks.
If you are still into frat parties, Spring break and the bar scene etc,
or you are a young family on a budget, or if you MUST stay on Paradise Island but your on a budget - this hotel may be the answer.
Be sure NOT to pay more than $90 for this priviledge. It is NOT worth it.
The halls smell musty all day long and the elevators are slow and very noisy.
The halls are noisy throughout the nite, and the walls and floors are so thin you hear conversation and TV's on at all hours.
We were awoken at 3am one morning by a group arriving home from the club, and again at 5am from another group who were talking and moving furniture upstairs (there is an ottoman on wheels in each room which sounds like thunder when rolled across the room - amplified when its being rolled around in the room overhead.)
The Room
The rooms are small, but not tiny.
The floors are tiles with a faux stone, which doesn't clean very well (my feet were dirty minutes after taking a shower)
The shower water pressure is fine, but the drains don't work (others complained about the same thing. The last day I had to step into 4 inches of last nites shower water since I didn't have time to call the front desk and wait for them to service it again)
Air Conditioners are embedded in the ceiling in the room hallway, and drip condensation into puddles on the floor when the air conditioners are turn on.
Rooms provide only plastic or styrofoam cups for drinks. We requested glasses so that we could have drinks in our rooms and they said they don't provide them for room. I had to continually ask them to leave plastic cups for us each day. They never replaced them without my asking.
The bedding is old and worn. Our King size bed had the telltale seperated indentations in them. (Geez, I thought that a king size bed in a vacation paradise would have a Single indention .. right down the center)
Room View was fine, as long as you don't look down at the rooftops.
There is no bathroom amenities such as conditioner, lotions, shower cap etc. Only Shampoo/Soaps - I asked.
The Pool / Beach Area
The pool is quite nice, not luxurious, but has a lovely waterfall and bridges to small islands "floating" in the pool.
Towels go quickly, so get them early in the morning and leave them on your chaise.
There are not enough chaises lounges for each guest. People were sunning themselves lying on the bricks surrounding the pool.
The beach is a very small slip of a beach, surrounded by rocks as a breakwater. It nearly disappears at low tide. But the beach is fine for sunning.
There is a wooden walkway built on the breakwater which is quite nice to walk out into the harbour and watch the boats.
There is a Spa service, either in your room or at the pool. Again, this is not luxury. A women with a massage table under a white awning.
Bar/Dining Services
Breakfast in the dining room ( OK cafeteria atmosphere) is Buffet style for $10.95 ($12.59 with gratuity) Scrambled eggs, plain or with cheese, grits, oatmeal, bacon, hash browns, fruits, cereals, french toast and waffles. This is a pretty good deal if you are hungry. But it's the ONLY thing available each day.
Wahoo's Grill by the pool - Very congenial staff, decent Cheeseburgers ($9.50), Chicken Salad ($12.95), Wings etc for lunch poolside. Frozen drinks and cold Kaliks available. Don't forget to try a Bahama Mama or Yellowbird.
Holiday Inn bars DO NOT server Bacardi Rums ( they server Castillo). Ask for Anejo if you want Bacardi rum.
Harbourview Inn ( Nothing fancy -open only Thurs, Fri, Sat.) Dinner menu has appetizers from $6.95 - $12.95, entrees from $22.50 - $38.50 and Pastas from $12.95.
