BEWARE purchasing from third party sellers. Amazon.com allows their third party sellers to participate in unethical business practices. My order was placed through Amazon on a saturday evening to an item a third party seller had listed. The price had been dropping all day long and I finally decided to place an order. The order was accepted. Sunday morning I get an email saying the order was cancelled, the item was out of stock. Went back to Amazon to purchase from another seller and found the exact same item for sale by the same seller. Only difference was the price was now $5 more!
Contacted customer service about this issue but was told there was nothing could be done. I was told I could leave feedback regarding the transaction. To make matters even worse, once my order was cancelled, it was like there was no record of the transaction at all at Amazon's website so I couldn't even rate the seller who performed this unethical behavior. Amazon's customer rep agreed the practice was unethical, said I could leave feedback but than there was no way to do this. So it wasn't even possible to warn other customers about the unethical business practices of this seller. Had I not gone back to Amazon's site to search for another seller, I wouldn't have known about the issue and being unable to leave feedback to warn other users, I'm wondering how bad amazon's problem truly is within their marketplace.
