Saved $100 from prices offered by Travelocity, Expedia and Orbitz. But hotwire has inflexible terms. You only get the price up front, and you find out everything else after you order (and once you order, there's no going back). THEY choose the time of day for your flights (you only discover the airline after you buy, too, but hotwire only deals with a handful of major airlines. So that's no big deal). Don't expect that you'll necessarily get a direct flight. My flight from Philadelphia to Houston had me going to Detroit, and it took several hours. The cost was $160 total; not bad. Be prepared to arrive at your destination and home at odd hours. You should think about extra costs you might incur (Because I arrived home at 11 p.m., I had to pay an extra day for my dog's kennel. Also, I arrived so late I missed the last train home and had to take a taxi. Those two expenses nearly gobbled up my savings). The ticketing and everything else went smoothly. Go with hotwire if price is your primary concern ... and if an odd itinerary won't give you unexpected surprises.
