I only wish I had found the other negative safety-related reviews before we purchased our sectional sofa from Home Reserve. We have had the same problems with our young children getting hurt. As stated by the other reviewers, it is made entirely of hard wood, with only a thin piece of fabric stretched over it. There is absolutely nothing between the wood and the upholstery fabric on the non-seating areas of the sofa. The seating cushions and back cushions are the only padding, and those are removable. Our kids have sustained numerous bumps, bruises, scrapes, and cuts, from the bottom front, sides, back edge pieces, and the pieces under the removable cushions. On a more serious note, our 15 month old daughter suffered a concussion to her forehead from falling against the hard wood along the front bottom, and our son (3) had to get five stitches in his eyelid from falling and hitting an edge of the wood. In addition, you should also be aware that there is NO STRUCTURAL BACK to their sofas (draped with fabric), there are large round holes in the wood that supports the back cushions (draped with fabric), nothing at all covering the wood under the seat cushions, and a big open gap between the back and seat support wood. The back of the sofa is literally a wide open space with fabric draped over it, and the same can be said for the holes behind where the back cushions rest. This sofa is truly a hazard to kids. Just like the other reviewer, I also tried to submit a comment to warn other parents on their website but it was not posted. However, numerous 'positive' comments have been posted since I tried. Evidently they censor their customer comments and only allow 'flattering' comments to be posted. I find that pretty deplorable that they KNOW kids are getting hurt, and they intentionally try to keep others in the dark about the hazards. Even if you don't have kids, I would recommend you spend your hard-earned money elsewhere. Because there are no springs, and only wood under the cushions, this is not exactly a comfortable piece of furniture. As if your guests would not notice by sitting on it, the complete lack of a back, and any padding anywhere - scream to the world you have a very cheaply-made sofa. Ironically, the sofa was NOT cheap in price though; this was one case where more money did not equal a better couch. If you want comfort, and you want something that doesn't look home made - look elsewhere. We replaced ours with a $450 sofa from Big Lots (the Home Reserve sectional cost about $1100) that is leaps and bounds more comfortable! In addition, the cheaper Big Lots sofa has padding everywhere covering the wood under the upholstery - so our kids won't end up with bumps, bruises, and in the E.R. from concussions/gaping cuts!
