| osumin's Full Review: Sprint Mobile Phone Service in Columbus |
I had a Sprint Advantage agreement for 1 year. I began paying 49.99 for 1250 minutes a month. Thats 1000 night/weekend, and 250 anytime. During my year-long agreement, I saw many commercials on television advertising Sprint's newest reel-in for customers. Over the course of the year, I called customer care 3 times. Each call was preceeded by a new pricing plan as advertised- and while Sprint was good about honoring the lower prices- I spent a year listening for the newest Spring commercial to see if I could save 5 dollars a month. (Ok, I am a college student, that is alot of money).
Another problem with the service is, it seems, that rainy days or partially cloudy days- my calls would drop quite frequently. As this continued through the year, I decided that living in Ohio with a cell that drops calls on overcast days was not the best plan for me.
One of the nice things about Sprint is that you can monitor your account online. From paying you bill to checking account usage, it is very helpful for those who are not home during "normal" business hours to tend to these things.
I also found the phones that Sprint offers to be high quality and loaded with features, especially voice-activated calling (which is somewhat erratic as to when/if it works). AIM, Internet, and all the usuals of voicemail, call-waiting and caller ID are available.
Overall, I would say that if you live somewhere with nicer weather, your Sprint service would be great. However, if you spend 6 months of the year in clouds, I do not recommend the service. Traveling with the phone is convenient as it rarely roams- as long as you are somewhat near a metropolitan area, so if you spend alot of time outside your "home" area this is the plan for you.
