| wylin's Full Review: Nokia 8890 GSM Cellular Phone |
In Dec. 2001 i purchased this unit from a reseller of Cingular Wireless USA phones and services. I was happy to get a world cellphone and it had an interesting display in purple compared to my existing Nokia 3290 and Nokia 8290. The first month january 2002 i had my first problems the finish seems to chip off excessively because it is just alloy look metallic paint on a plastic casing. In Mid Jan the display decided to quit when i was text messaging. And Finally in mid Feb the slide started moving strangely then would not hang up calls and i sent the unit back to nokia for repairs and have yet to recieve it back. Reception is on par with the poorly performing 8290, which has similar durability aspects. Good features is that its light and the desktop charger charges the unit very quickly.
