Depending on my needs, OpticsPlanet is usually the first place I look to for two reasons: the free shipping and the exemplary customer service. Staff seems very knowledgeable about products whenever I have questions. However, a few of my orders have been "placed on hold" because items I've ordered are out of stock & I either have to wait longer or look elsewhere (and sometimes pay for shipping). This is frustrating since there's neverany prior notification that an item is not in stock. Other sites I utilize (Midway USA, Cheaper Than Dirt, etc.) let customers know in advance, DURING PRODUCT SELECTION, if an item is out of stock and they notify customers when said items become available. It's frustrating to place an order only to find out later that half the order is "on hold." OpticsPlanet should note when an item is currently unavailable. It's nice to know that other items are available, but customers have no idea if these alternatives are also out of stock now, do we? Giving 10% off doesn't always help. Knowing stock availability prior to placing an orderwould make for a much better online shopping experience. I write this as my most recent order has once again been placed "on hold" because OpticsPlanet has "run out of stock."
