May the Odds Be Ever in Your Favor....THE HUNGER GAMES
by talyseon | Mar 23, 2012
Pros: Sharp, brilliant story, timely, and well done.  Lawrence is brilliant.
Cons: The Capitol is a caricature; it could have been as offensive, and more real.

The book was much better (Reply to this comment)

In fact, I left the theater feeling somewhat disappointed. The film was good, but they dumbed it down a lot. They must have been trying too hard for the PG13 rating.

...I pictured Cinna as much younger (like 20s-ish) when I read the book. Although maybe I read it too quickly? Hm... They probably didn't even mention an age, come to think of it. I think Collins just said he was new to the stylist gig.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the movie! I'm not a *huge* fan of the book or anything, but it was more about entertainment than most other books I attempt, and that was good.

Cheers.

I almost always feel that way about a movie I see about a book I loved, which is why I am so delighted to have seen the movie first. I enjoyed it for what it was, now I get to enjoy the books too, and go...oh, these are SO much better!

Winning!

I thought the book was very bad so this does not bode well. Then again, I thought at the time I read it that the book was so simplistic it had to be written for the movie in mind.

I'm glad I haven't read the books yet. Sometimes it's better to read them after.

From an editorial perspective, best review of movie so far. (Reply to this comment)

However, I do not wish to spend a dime to watch this movie nor read the book. :)

Why the heck aren't you an advisor in Movies when it would do me some good? ;)

I agree that this is the best review of the movie, including my own. But unlike Reuben I'm glad I paid to see the movie (twice).
Sincerely,
Jason

ARGGGHH! Why can't you clearsighted and wise people be movie advisors?

Thank you for the compliment.
