Best place to stay in Bangkok

Pros: Great modern Thai hotel!
Cons: Does not have a true spa.
The Bottom Line: The Sukhothai is THE hotel to stay in Bangkok. They also have the most well-known Thai restaurant, Celadon.

I highly recommend The Sukhothai hotel as the place to stay in Bangkok.
The hotel is tastefully decorated in a modern Thai style. Very chic. Very well-maintained hotel, part of the Beaufort Hotel Group. The service is impeccable, friendly and nice.
They have quite a range of hotel rooms so ask for upgrades whenever possible. Their basic rooms are really nice too but if you have ask for upgrades when you check in and they have availability, they will usually upgrade you.
Everything about the hotel feels like a luxury boutique hotel. Personal service and best of all, they have the most well-known Thai restaurant - Celadon. Absolutely delicious Thai food and very famous in Bangkok. Celadon has been named "The Best Restaurant in Bangkok" by the Travel & Leisure Magazine and has the finest Thai food. Suggest ordering their set menu so you get a chance to try all sorts of dishes.
I like the fact that the hotel has a modern Thai feel to it, rather than the traditional European-style hotels. Not very big hotel and just right.
They also have a nice pool and tennis courts. The courts are in great condition and are synthetic grass.
If you're looking for a full-service spa, The Sukhothai does not have it. I personally prefer getting Thai massage in the room.. which I think is a real treat. There are spa service at other nearby hotels if you're very keen on getting the full spa treatment.
Definitely check out their gift stores. They have about 5+ stores and have beautiful Thai handicraft, home decorating pieces, and clothing. Very nice.
Finally, you will love The Sukhothai's concierge service. They are A++. Very attentive and friendly. Extremely reliable and can help you plan all your activities and transportation during your stay there.
Like all hotels in Bangkok such as The Peninsula..etc., The Sukhothai's room rates are very reasonable.
