Pros: Boutique hotel, villa style. Right on the beach.
Cons: Old, not well-maintained.
The Bottom Line: You are better off staying somewhere else. Not good value for money. Poorly maintained hotel/resort.

| fishface's Full Review: The Chedi Hotel, Phuket |
GHM Group hotels have been traditionally known for their quality and service. Unfortunately, I have been rather disappointed during my recent stay at the Chedi, Phuket.
The hotel/resort as a whole has the full-range of facilities - tennis, pool, spa, restaurant, beach...etc.
The villas, on the otherhand, were not well-maintained. Everything seemed really old and the floors would make squeeking noises when you walked on them. The villas were also rather small. You walk through the door and you are already practically touching your bed. I was pretty surprised.
The phone in the room also didn't work properly the whole time I was there despite repeated request to have it replaced. In general, I did not feel like this is a service-oriented hotel despite having stayed at so many resorts in this part of the world. Everything moved a snail-pace or there was no response at all. Part of the reason why there was so much inefficiencies was because of the way the villas were built. There were so many stairs that it takes forever to get from point a to point b.
So many of our friends including myself have gotten lost numerous times because there was no proper signage.
Oh, definitely a no kids resort. There is nothing for kids to do and they would not be able to run around since there are so many stairs.
The beach, on the otherhand, was quite beautiful. White sandy beach and you can also arrange for a massage on the beach. Lots of water sports to do.. from wind surfing, catamaran, snorkeling, to jetskiing.
For tennis fans, Chedi has 2 tennis courts but they're not in very good condition. Imagine playing tennis on painted cement! Fortunately, Chedi is a sister hotel to the exclusive Amanpuri located next door. You can request to play on the Amanpuri courts instead which are a lot nicer.
Golf can be arranged through the hotel and is located 30 minutes away.
Food was also a big disappointment. The food were usually either too spicey or tasteless. My recommendation is to eat elsewhere outside of the Chedi. The Amanpuri has wonderful food and is right next door.
All in all, I would not recommend Chedi. Also, not good $$ for value.
Suggest staying at the Banyan Tree which is further north of Phuket.
