Pros:strong scent, long burn time
Cons:fragrance isn't anything special, black soot/smoke, expensive
The Bottom Line: This candle isn't horrible but I won't be buying it again.
I seem to always be pushing forward to the next season when it comes to buying and burning candles in my house. When it is still the cold months of winter, I use floral candles to get me thinking about spring. It is now just April and I'm already using fruity and tropical candles to get me into summer mode. I've been burning Yankee Candle's Sweet Strawberry Housewarmer Candle in my kitchen for the past couple of weeks and I have to say that I'm not really loving it.

About This Product
The Yankee Candle Sweet Strawberry Large Housewarmer Jar Candle is opaque and light red in color. The company describes the fragrance as "the essence of perfectly ripe strawberries sprinkled with sugar". It has an estimated burn time of between 110 and 150 hours and costs $27.99 for the large 22 ounce jar size. You can buy Yankee Candles in company stores, home supply stores like Bed Bath & Beyond, and on various internet sites including the company's site.
As I mentioned, I've been using this Sweet Strawberry Yankee Candle in my kitchen. The scent is very strong and easily fills up my medium-sized kitchen even when the two windows are open. The problem that I have with the fragrance, though, is that it smells like any other generic strawberry candle that I can buy in drug stores, grocery stores, dollar stores, etc. I don't get any kind of "sweet" component to the scent nor is there any of the bright freshness that I associate with sweet spring strawberries.
Another negative aspect of this candle is the fact that it, like all of the company's candles, spews black soot and smoke no matter how diligent I am about trimming the wick and keeping it away from drafts and breezes. I have walls and ceilings that have been stained over the years due to my continuous use of Yankee Candles. (Guess what I'm doing this summer break? Repainting the inside of the house!)
A final kick in the teeth is the price. For years and years Yankee Candle charged $24.99 for their Large Housewarmer Jar Candles. In the past year they've raised the price by $3 so they now cost $27.99. Really? Now? When the regular people who are struggling to pay bills are trying to do their best to justify buying non-necessary items like candles they raise prices so much? I obviously haven't stopped buying Yankee Candles (yet), but I do wait until I receive a "buy 2 get 1 free" or "buy 1 get 1 free" coupon in the mail before placing my order.
I don't completely hate this Yankee Candle Sweet Strawberry Housewarmer Jar, but I also don't love it. The fragrance isn't anything different than what you can get in cheapo strawberry candles for a fraction of the price. Add in the black soot and the price... and that adds up to this candle being a one-time experience for me. I won't be buying it again.
