| fishface's Full Review: Four Seasons Resort, Sayan |
If you're looking for a honeymoon spot or just want to get away for a beautiful, relaxing holiday.... the Four Seasons Sayan in Bali would be the perfect resort for you.
Built off the side of a beautiful mountain in Ubud, Bali, the Four Sesons Sayan overlooks the Ayung River. Completely spectacular.. you arrive at the hotel on the top floor where you see a heavenly lotus pool. The view is absolutely gorgeous.. you feel like you're on top of the mountains. Very zen-like.
If you're looking for a beach-like vacation, the Four Seasons Sayan is definitely not for you. Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay, another excellent Four Seasons resort, located 20 minutes away is right on the beach. Located in Ubud, the Four Seasons Sayan is surrounded by jungles and rivers. For people who hate insects, you will have to be ready to get a couple little bites here and there. Four Seasons does a good job spraying the resort area to decrease the mosquitos...etc. but you still better off bringing a bottle of OFF mosquito spray with you.
The rooms are very spacious and wonderfully decorated. One of the big plus of the resort is that it's new so everything is in great condition. Of course with a Four Seasons, it's hard to go wrong.
Rooms come in suites and villas. I stayed at the suite which was great. It's got all the gadgets and luxury.
Food is good at the Four Seasons. There is a good selection of restaurants at the resort and have a great selection of healthy dishes. You can basically spend a weekend there just ordering super healthy dishes that are still very tastey. I especially liked the choices of healthy fushion dishes.
One thing nice about the resort is that you have the utmost privacy. You don't end up seeing a lot of guests because of the way the resort is laid out and can basically spend the day at the spa or pool and feel like you have the whole place to yourself.
I really enjoyed the Spa at the Four Seasons Sayan. They have all sorts of exotic and traditional treatments. Very nice. Make sure you book in advance if you are going during the peak season. They get booked up very quickly. If you have time, try the body wrap. VERY nice! There are so many types of treatments to choose from.. you can basically try a different one every day you're there. The Four Seasons Sayan has done a great job with their spa. Definitely one of the best spa I've been to so far.
For the fitness freak, they also have a full-fledge gym.. complete with all sorts of equipment and offer classes such as yoga. If you have time, sign up for the yoga class. It's held at the huge lily pond area. Very serene and peaceful. The view is absolutely amazing.. you almost feel like you're looking at a painting.
Best time to travel to Bali is April to October. Rest of the year is wet season. Not very nice.
If this is your first time to Bali, you will also notice that everything is really cheap in Bali with regards to shopping, eating....etc. There are plenty to do and everything is conviently located.
Bali has also been rated as the top island by Conde Naste Traveler several years in a row. Both the Four Seasons Sayan and Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay has been ranked top resorts in the world several years as well. Highly recommend both Four Seasons if you're looking for a beautiful honeymoon spot or just for a very nice vacation.
