Pros:Almost everything
Cons:Driver´s surround made from compressed foam
The Bottom Line: Try to get one of these...could be difficult but you can get a good bargain.

I wrote a review about this subwoofer some time ago for Audio Review. I have had this beast with me more than two years and compared with similar new models from Energy, Velodyne and even Boston (the VR 2000 is discontinued from year 2000) not only performs as good as new models but has more high quality features than many brand new models, like gold finished binding posts and a very solid cabinet. It delivers clear gut dumping bass. It is also very powerful, capable of shaking a big room, yet very musical and well articulate. I just have not the feeling that buying a new model will upgrade or better my actual system. The only negative thing is the compressed foam surround from the driver (instead of more durable butyl rubber), but this is also a characteristic of new models. THX certified and plenty of connections, it is a real winner (see reviews on January 1997 Audio magazine and issue 26 Widescreen magazine). I use it with Vibrapods isolators under each foot and the results are amazing...the Vibrapods improve its performance by at least 30%. If you can get one of these, even used but in perfect conditions, go for it.
