Pros:Seal tightly, easy to remove lids, perfect size, BPA free
Cons:None
The Bottom Line: Great containers that seal out air well.

Normally I prefer food storage containers that are made from glass, but the Pyrex sets I have in my cabinets have snap on lids that don't always seal liquids well.

While shopping for containers at Fred Meyer, I found a package of three Rubbermaid Take Alongs Twist & Seal containers for only $2.99, so I gave them a try.  The price really surprised me, making each container a buck!

The package states these can be used for liquid storage, which is just what I was looking for.

Features

* Twist-tight seal
* Leak proof
* Handles stay cool when food is hot

My Experience

I love Rubbermaid Take Alongs Twist & Seal containers!!  Mine are clear with see through red tinted lids, and it's nice to be able to see the foods that are stored in these.  I use them for storing snacks such as raisins and nuts, and I use them for storing leftovers in my refrigerator.

I am 57 years old and have some arthritis in my hands.  Opening a jar or container isn't as easy as it used to be, but these containers really help in that area because both the sides of the container and the edges of the lid are heavily ribbed.  I can get a firm grip on both and my hands don't slip while opening them up.

The packaging says these can be used in the freezer and are dishwasher safe, although I only put plastics in the top level of my dishwasher.  The lid reads "Remove before microwaving", and this is important for all foods when cooking in this manner because steam can build up, and steam is hotter than boiling water.

Each container holds two cups, which is a nice amount for leftovers.  There is a slight indentation on the top of the lid, and a deeper round indentation in the center where one can be stacked upon another.

Just as claimed, these containers do not leak.  I can hold one of them upside down and liquids do not seep out.  You do need to be sure the lids are screwed on tightly because it only takes one twist to screw them on.

I like these so much that I even purchased some for the purposes of storing touch up paint.  My husband and I just moved into a new home a month ago and the builder left two (half full) 5 gallons containers of paint in our garage.  One matches the walls and the other the trim.  While moving furniture and hanging pictures we inevitably scratched some walls, and it was a pain in the neck to deal with large buckets of paint.  I poured some into these containers and now I can store them away in my laundry room and the paint is ready when I need it (with much less stirring!).

For the price, these containers seem well made, they are easy to open and close, and they keep air out.  Note that the container does not claim to be free of BPA, so I visited the company website and they do indeed state that both the lids and the containers are BPA free.
