this is the worst printer I have ever had. I always buy Epson and purchased this one because I thought it would have better and better photo printout which I use constantly. Not so, at least on mine. If any photo has the slightly tone of red in it, it makes all the picture reddish ... I'm ready to toss even its only 2 months old and buy a Canon.

Don't do it!!! Whoever recommended this printer is far luckier than I am. I had an HP for 8 years, but it is not supported by Win XP so I bought this POS after reading a similar review. I despise this thing. The ink cartridges are puny and expensive, tech support non-existent, and the nozzles clog constantly. I might be able to put up with this if I had even one good photo print to show for it, but I don't. I'm good with computers but I cannot get the colors to be accurate and the output is blotchy at 300 dpi or higher. Right now the #$%* thing won't work at all because it won't recognize the $50 worth of new cartridges I just put in.

Sorry about that oversight! The manual says that the print resolution goes up to 2880 x 720 dpi.

Your review of this printer is very good but you are too kind. You did not mention how long you had this printer for and you only mention the print times according to epson and not from your own usage. I can bet that your print times will be no where near the times Epson gives. I agree the print quality is excellent but you pay for it in the cost of ink.

i've got the same printer at home. Too bad I don't have something so nice to compliment my digital camera.

I've owned and used many Epson printers in the past few years, and though i've had my own problems with reliability (the thing actually breaking...) I cannot dispute the quality of the prints. For digital photography, there is little that comes close to the affordability and quality of the Epsons.

Once again, great review, steph.

I have an Epson, too, but it is most definitely nowhere near the quality of yours. I was thinking about buying a new printer anyway, and I think I just might go with the Stylus Photo 820 because of your stellar review. Thanks a lot.

My first printer, now my daughter's, is an Epson.
I actually prefer the Epson's top feed design to my HP's bottom feed. Also the on screen ink level information is very handy. I don't have that on my HP either. Wanna trade? I'll throw in a few spuds.

I'll have to share this... (Reply to this comment)

...with my parents. They love their digital camera, but the photos that they've been printing out are less-than adequate. This may be one for them to take a look at. Thanks for the review!
