| mapleafs's Full Review: Gateway Performance 1000 deluxe |
Alright, I my parents ordered me a Pentium 3, 1000 deluxe buisness class computer. The buisness class was required by my school for some stupid reason. The computer came right on time.......so i hook up the computer, and no SOUND came out!! Gateway forgot to install a sound card, I thought I had gone deaf, but It's Gateway who got Alzheimers or something. We called up right away, and actually Gateway took a little too long in getting me my sound card.
The computer wasn't loaded, Business classes have less features. It came with a 17" monitor, which seems good, but it is HUGE, the screen is great, but the back of it takes up too much space. Make sure you have a big open desk for this monitor.
Other Features:
-300 MHZ, Pentium 3
-Terrible mouse (replaced with microsoft opti-mouse)
-Awesome Boston Speakers
-Microsoft Office ($200 value)
-40x cd-rom
--This computer had the basics, great speed, but NO burner, zip drive, no DVD-rom, stuff that should be standard on a computer of this expectance.
Problems with My Gateway:
- The PC often crashes, saying Illegeal procedure etc.
- It has gotten so bad, that my Microsoft office programs dont even work, unless I reboot my computer and reinstall the program-- really bad
Overall: My Gateway was Lateway in the early goings, with out a soundcard. After that the computer has been real good for the most part, it is fast, and the internet speed is so quick. Aside from the Microsoft office not working, everything else has been easy to set up and use--including the Zip Burner I had installed.
I would definatly recommend Gatway, for its good customer support and quality, the prices are pretty good, but i would definatly recommend not using their mouse! Dell might be a little better, but defiantly take Gateway over an HP or Compaq
