I want to highly recommend http://www.Valuemags.com for anyone who reads magazines. Even if you don't need any new subscriptions, this web site lets you manage all of your renewals in one spot. Set it and forget it!
The customer service is great. I placed an order for 3 magazines and one of the titles I wanted to send to a friend. I accidentally put the wrong address is for her when I first submitted the order. I called the 800# for ValueMags, and a very friendly woman named Sherri helped me correct the problem. The customer service is light years ahead of other similar websites, and far better than dealing with publishers, who are relatively indifferent to individual subscribers (this is because they really make their money on on advertising).
More on the MagsManager service:
Click the log-in tab, and you will get access to the Mags Manager. This service helps you keep track of all of your magazine subscriptions. It's great for an avid magazine reader like me. I subscribe to about 19 magazines right now - and to have all of the expirations dates in one place makes it easy for me to make sure my subscriptions never run out (at least not the ones I want to keep!). The best thing is that you can put all your subscriptions into your account, even if you didn't order it through ValueMags originally. I just throw away renewal notices without opening them.
One last word on prices. They offer the best prices on the web. But if you find a better price, send them an email or pick up the phone. The customer service people will work with you to save money. Best of all, you don't have to join anything to get good prices, and you don't have to suffer through junk email if you don't want to. Unlike other magazine vendors out there, there is no catch.
Finally, the website. They deserve an award for a clean, clear interface with high contrast. It's always quick, and the search function works great. No clicking through pages of junk or advertising to get to the price you want. Just hit the front page, type a few letters of the title you want and go! They even put their categories on the front page, so you don't have to hunt around for it. Also, while pictures of the magazine cover are nice, on a slow connection it can take a while. Some websites make you click through page after page just to find the title you want. ValueMags is about efficiency - the search engine brings up a text list. Clicking on a title brings up a description of the magazine with an image...not the other way around. This way, if you know what you want, just click on it.
Conclusion:
Good Service, Great Prices, and an Excellent Website make this a must bookmark site. Set a reminder in Outlook to go to http://www.Valuemags.com in October and order your holliday presents early. You won't be disappointed when your friends and relatives get a gift card an their first issue on the first night of Channuka or in time to read during Christmas week.
