I Wonder! (Reply to this comment)

Since you only played with this camera, how well do you know how it works? I notice you reviewed four different cameras since mid March. These are cameras you don't really own.
Most of the review is technical information and specifications I can easily find on the web site.
It reads like it comes from a photography magazine.

Re: "Movie" exposure mode (Reply to this comment)

Hi cdm2000
movie modes on digital still cameras are a marketing ploy (much like digital zooms) video quality is very poor, good enough for short email MPegs but not much else (unless you happen to see the Loch Ness monster or bigfoot) Just like the still picture mode on video cameras, the movie mode is designed to convince consumers who are wavering between a digital still camera and digital video camera that one unit can do both jobs. Unfortunately it just isn't true.

The BEST summary, in print, of the current digital versus 'conventional' photography situation. Some authorities will not enjoy these truths; thanks to his excellent review, readers will know better than to become ensnared in this latest technology for technology sake.
What! Users ? What's a user - we want consumers!
I'd like to mass mail this review to everyone who has ever used either type of camera.
THANK YOU, Howard !

You mentioned in the technical specifications that the camera has "movie" mode. I'd be interested to know more about this. How would it to compare camcorder?
