Get More Guarantee-Guarantee Poor Service!

Written: Mar 29 '02 (Updated Mar 29 '02)
  • User Rating: Disappointing
  • Local Coverage:
  • Plan Flexibility:
  • Customer Service:
Pros:More minutes for less & Good phone selection
Cons:Poor customer service, no follow through, dishonest
The Bottom Line: Don't fall for the good rates! If you deal with their customer service that price will rise with the poor service you will receive!

Voicestream should really change their slogan. The "Get More Guarantee" It is true on both sides of the coin. You get more minutes and a wider selection of phones than anyone else. You also get the worst Customer Service and follow-up that I have ever seen.

People say that after a purchase from a service provider you really find out what kind of decision you have made when there is a time of crisis. Boy I sure did.

I called Voicestream to check about coverage in Maui. I was told by a representative that I should have nothing to worry about. I was told that there is indeed coverage and I will have free roaming and LD on Maui. (Right.........)

I received my invoice and there were $500 in charges for LD and Roaming. So naturally I called back in to Voicestream to get my billing corrected based upon my previous conversation with a Voicestream representative.

When I called I was told that there was no record of my conversation in their system and that there is not free roaming or LD on my current rate plan. I explained I was told that there was on a previous call and the representative told me that I was mistaken and there were no notes that I ever previously called in. I was irate. First off I was lied to, Secondly I was being called a liar. I asked to speak to a Supervisor and after an additional 45 minutes of discussion the Supervisor told me that they would issue me a credit and it would appear on my next billing. I was happy, for a short period of time.

I received my invoice and there was no credit. I called back in and received the same run around and again there was no notes on my account. I gave the Supervisors name that I spoke with and the representative that I spoke with contacted the Supervisor and he stated that he never heard from me. Now I was hot. My contract was up so I just cancelled my account and got the hell out of there. I paid the phone bill and did not say another word. I contacted the Attorney Generals Office of Washington and was told that there have been several complaints on Voicestream and broken promises as well as misinformation.

So in my final words, BUYER BEWARE--When you call their Customer Care and they give you Rep-Id's on their opening phrase, that is a hint that they are trying to hold their rep's accountable for their poor service!
