Do your homework before selecting Protection One!

Pros: The Security and Peace of Mind.
Cons: False Alarms, Police Dept. Fees
The Bottom Line: I think home security systems give you great peace of mind, however be aware of the drawbacks.

I have had a Security System for a number of years and have always enjoyed the peace of mind. However, now that we have retired we don't feel the need for the system any more.
It is now April 2002 and I have been attempting to terminate my account with Protection One since September 2001. There is no "service" in their Customer Service Department. I have spoken to no less than 5 people in an attempt to terminate service. I have written 3 letters and faxed copies. If their records indicate that you have a balance due (even if you don't!) they use an automated telephone system to call you constantly and no one seems to be able to disable it.
I strongly suggest you look at this website from the Department of Justice for the State of Oregon before you choose Protection One.
