| screamineagle1's Full Review: Marriott J.W. Ihilani Resort and Spa |
I have never done a review before but I loved JW Marriott so much I had to make sure I told everyone about it. In March 2002 we made our first trip to Hawaii. As soon as we pulled off on the Ko Olina exit to enter the resort area we were impressed by the sheer beauty of the well manicured landscape. There is a security stop to go through before you get to the hotel. We were glad to see such smiling faces every time we came back to the hotel waving us back. They made us feel like family. We were on the 8th floor in room 825 with a full view of the ocean. We were even given a little show from a playful whale. I really liked the side we were on because there was a waterfall and pond area down below us and nothing but ocean out in front of us. There are many sides to the hotel so I guess we just lucked out. The patio doors are huge and offer a wonderful view. We loved to pull the slotted doors shut at night and leave the glass doors open to hear the sound of the ocean at night and the birds chirping in the morning. We saw some beautiful sunsets from our patio. The beds were the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever slept in. I fell in love with the whole set up. The comfortable bed, heavy soft comforter, and the best feather pillows ever! We loved the size of the room. It had more closets than I had cloths. I loved the long entry way. The bathrooms were very roomy. My only complaint about the room would be that there wasn't an ice machine to go get ice. They do bring you ice during the turn down around 5pm but in the mean time you need to call room service if you need ice. The ice from room service is complimentary and they are very quick to bring it and actually seem excited to serve you. But I wasn't comfortable about calling them for ice all the time.
My kids who are 5 & 7 enjoyed feeding the little sharks. They do this on certain mornings. The pool was fun for the kids. There wasn't a deep end to it because it was all one depth. The pool staff often walked around offering cold water.
I really liked the fact that the hotel was away from everything else. We drove past Waikiki a few times but never stopped because it seemed too busy for us. I would not have wanted to stay anywhere else in Hawaii!!
Paradise Cove is located with in walking distance of the hotel. I would highly recommend this place as well. The food wasn't wonderful but the show would be worth the price alone.
