You didn't specify what speaker system you were using with the sound blaster Live.
I own a sound blaster live and I love mine. I recently gave my computer to the kids with all the games ans stuff. They are running a pair of Harmon Kardon speakers (small desktop type)with it and it sounds good.
I was running a Altec Lansing acs-33 with a healthy sub and the SB live rocks the house.
I'm in the process of getting another SB Live.
