| soupcraze's Full Review: Paradigm CC-350 Center Speaker |
I currently use the Paradigm CC-370 in my home theater hook-up. The Paradigm CC-370 accompanies two Paradigm Monitor 11 speakers in the front. And there are four Boston Acoustics CR-9 speakers that are elsewhere. I watch DVD movies a lot, and for this purpose, I use the Paradigm CC-370 center channel. My family prefers to use the center channel while playing CDs, however I use the Paradigm CC-370 mainly for movies. I also listened to it while playing music, and rated it based on that too.
Price:
The Paradigm CC-370 costs around $350 in stores. Wow, what a bargain! This is a 2-way center channel that really has ground-breaking performance. Paradigm is a company that gives you all the sound that you can get for the buck. You simply can't go wrong with these speakers. Sure they are made in Canada (Most speakers are built in US), but they are sure GREAT quality! I personally believe that the Paradigm CC-370 is the best in its class. Or it sure seems to perform beautifully off of a Marantz SR-14EX. So if you are looking for a sweet center channel for around $300 - $400, then the Paradigm CC-370 may be for you!
Durability:
The Paradigm CC-370 has a very solid cabinet without doubt. The drivers are made out of very high quality materials. The tweeters are made out of titanium, and not a lot of manufacturers build there drivers with titanium. The woofers are co-polymer polypropylene. It's a high quality polymer that's used in a lot of drivers built by respectable companies. The Paradigm CC-370 can handle up to 120 watts safely, so you should have a pretty hard time blowing these drivers out! This piece of equipment is built to last!
Looks and Styling:
The Paradigm CC-370 is an average looking center channel. It looks good on top of my Sony KP-53V85 TV. However, I've seen some nicer looking center channels. Well, the Paradigm CC-370 does follow the usual design, and most listeners should find it to be good looking. I like big speakers. They look good in my opinion. Overall, it should be a nice compliment to your home theater.
Sound:
The Paradigm CC-370 is capable of producing clean and powerful sound. The Paradigm CC-370 is powered by a 1" titanium tweeter which is capable of hitting the high frequencies precisely with lots of power. Then the midranges are done through dual 6.5" polypropylene woofers. The midrange is very clear, and the vocals come out sounding very natural. The Paradigm CC-370 has superb imaging, while a lot of other center channels do fail in this area. It blends in very naturally with my front and rear stages. Overall, I think that the Paradigm CC-370 delivers amazing quality sound that will definitely impress you, and this speaker blends in perfectly with other Monitor speakers from Paradigm. The Paradigm CC-370 shows the true beauty that the Marantz SR-14EX is capable of producing, and it should also make any other receiver shine!
Bass:
Well, I personally believe that center speakers aren't meant to produce bass. Well, the Paradigm CC-370 does hit the lower notes of male vocals fairly well, and the Paradigm CC-370 doesn't exaggerate bass unrealistically like some other speakers do. Well, if you don't have a subwoofer, then the main speakers should produce most of the bass, or if you use a subwoofer, then you shouldn't have to worry about bass.
The Verdict:
Overall, I think that the Paradigm CC-370 is an amazing center channel. It should really impress most people who hear it. If you use otehr Paradigm speakers, then this is a perfect match, especially for the Monitor series speakers! It's one of the greatest center channels that I've ever heard, and definitely one of the best for under $500. Paradigm really do know what they are doing!
