Don't Buy into their policies

I've found some great deals at Buy.com IN THE PAST. Items priced much cheaper than other online e-tailers or regular retail shops. But I've recently had an experience which has left a bad taste in my mouth and I believe is a failure in their part. In February of this year I ordered a Panasonic camcorder model PV-DV702. I searched pricescan.com for the lowest price and amongst the somewhat shady appearance of many NY based camera shops (where one can often find dirt cheap deals on "gray" market products) I found Buy.com to be the most reliable of the sort. The day I found the product it was in stock and listed at $879.95 ($999.95 retail). I figured it was a good deal (lowest price available at the time) and the return policy can be trusted. The next day I go to purchase the product and it is listed as "Backorder" so I'll buy it and figured give it a few weeks and it should be there. Nearly 2 months later still no camera in stock and they are still accepting orders. For the first 2-3 weeks I would receive a weekly email saying the product was on backorder and they were trying to find other sources but those e-mails ceased. The product has also gone down in price to $833.33. One night I was checking the status of the product (not my order) and it was listed at $779.95. One hundred dollars less than the price I had ordered it at. They advertise a low-price guarantee. I immediately emailed them to request the price match. Low and behold again I was dupped. The price the next day was the current $833.33 price. After sending several emails back and forth to their customer service department I received replies of "the current price is 833.33 and we will match that price" and "we cannot validate the past price on our website".
These two facts have turned me away from Buy.com. For a company to continue to sell a backordered product for two months is beyond me. I am also disgusted at the fact they would not honor the price listed on their own website. I know what I saw and it was a lower price. If I had known they would not honor their own so-called "low price guarantee" I would have placed a second order for the camcorder.
They've lost my trust as a customer with their so-called policies. At one time they WERE a very good store to purchase from. Customer service WAS good. But since this last experience they've left a sour taste in my buyer's mouth. I'd like to inform any potential customer who finds a supposedly "great" deal to think twice before giving your money to Buy.com
