cough ..... cough ..... cough
....."citified sophisticated lady"......

Surely you jest! I almost lost my Pepsi over that one. Well, I do live in a city, in fact the captial of Ohio, and I am female but damn Jude, calling me a lady - why, (as I sputter) hell, I'm just as good as you are - smile. And far from sophisticated, trust me.

Naw, I'm just a dirty little grubber with language that would shame a sailor (sorry Gung) on leave, with a penchant for weird movies and an eye on retirement.

Damn I love you

and it totally changes my image of you as a citified sophisticated lady, probably a literature professor...(strange the way my mind works) ...I still maintain that you are sophisticated and elegent, but I now remove the "citified". Very nice way to welcome the season. Thanks. By the way, the ratings are not posting on this review...it must be one of those Epinions bugs! Where is the bug spray when we need it!!!??? Jude

You're a true gardener and one that will just love my entry, hehe. Weird that ratings in this category don't show.

a midwife AND gardener? You are taking 'nursery' to the extreme - grin.

Weird thing about ratings, I don't show anyones rating when I look, I mean NO ONE, so unless they leave a comment I am clueless. Well, I'm clueles anyway, but that is another story entirely :)

Your comments are very welcome, thank you

A non-member of Ep types "gardening" it their research engine, gets to read this page, and all of a sudden, realizes how much joy, excitement and love your profession may bring to one's life.

With such a beautiful, heartfelt and poetic way of expressing your passion for your "job" (for it's far more than a mere 9-5 job, as you so wonderfully explained to the world) well, you might be changing someone's life out there right now.

And if that's not helping others make informed decisions....

I'm SO glad I got the chance to read this. Really.

I couldn't rate this. (Reply to this comment)
by hadassahchana
No, I mean, I *really* couldn't rate this, as my rating didn't seem to take, and I tried a few times. I hope you'll accept a word-of-mouth VH from me, because I absolutely loved this! Your lines about your job resembling that "other nursery business" had me in tears. As a midwife and a gardener, I couldn't agree more. Although, I have to point out that none of my plants, not even my fussy little meconopsis poppy, has ever gotten me out of bed at 3 a.m.!

This was wonderful. Thanks for posting such a heartfelt gift to us all.

Warmly,
Cindy

Thanks Diane,
methinks everyone worries way too much about categories and not enough about being honest with their own feelings.

This is probably posted in the wrong place, but I loved it and decided what the hell I am rating it VH. I think this is beautiful and everyone can always rant at me for rating something in the wrong category. Love it.

why Pogo, you leave me speechless (did I hear cheers and clapping out there???). Yes, I am indeed blessed to find something, after all these years, that brings me such joy.

Thank you so much for your kind words.

Susi

ps Yes, Pogo, I HAVE noticed that you are a tad bit bizarre, I like that about you :)

Beautiful Sentiments... (Reply to this comment)
by pogomom

Hi Susi:

It seems you do not realize the benefit in finding this type of "general" review. You give some excellent advice combined in your tribute to an activity that you not only love but that supports you in return.

Usually, my comments to those I trust are nonsensical and sometimes bordering on bizarre. In this situation, I can only say that I envy your managing to find a career that feeds you in so many ways. Beautiful, just plain beautiful!

I totally enjoyed reading this and wanted to let you know [in case you didn't] that we own a lawn care/landscaping - tree trimming business! and, like you, enjoy it immensely!

And - yes, I, too... have been blessed:) LOVED reading this:) Gina

Why The VH Rating (Reply to this comment)
by naphtalia
You made me feel happy this morning. I find that VH.

I look forward to the time ahead (as promised in one of the group discussions) when Epinions will have a place where we can express ourselves more creatively. When that time comes, we can have more of this sort of writing.

YOUR opinion I value. I guess the problem is, there is no way for a category lead to appropriately rate me - grin - since there is no lead in Suggested Products. Sometimes I am just too devious for even myself :)

I wrote for the love of gardening, not for the hits. Thanks for letting me join

You did a beautiful job . . . (Reply to this comment)
by ed_grover
of expressing your feelings and who cares where it was posted! The very fact that you took the time to write this wonderful essay is enough for me.

When you write Gardening is more than digging a hole and shoving something in the ground, every gardener or landscape person knows exactly what you mean. I agonize over my little space and move things around from year to year until they're happy with the place they live.

Susi, you wrote from your soul and I appreciate it.

either way, it simply doesn't matter.

Actually, I don't feel it reflects on General Comments About Epinions, however, both categories are non-productive categories.

This was written simply for fun. Appreciate your feedback though.
