| ghard1's Full Review: Dell Dimension 8100 Series |
I have owned this system for 8 months now and have had no major problems as of yet (knock on wood!) My only real complaint is with the diskette drive (which I rarely use). It is very hard to remove diskettes from it and they often get jammed and require a ruler to be inserted under the disk in order for it to slide out. I purchased this system with Windows 2000 professional and have found it to be much more reliable than Windows 98SE. I opted for the 21" Trinitron FD display which is truly amazing, although very expensive and bulky. Their tech support is far better than any one elses in the industry. I have owned various Compaq's, Acer's and HP's in the past and this is my 5th Dell purchase in the last 3 years, largely due to their tech support. The black color of the system is very cool although it does show the dust more than the old ivory. I purchased this system with the HK 695 speakers which are definitely worth the money as is upgrading to a trinitron monitor. These two options make a computer far more enjoyable. I would purchase a smaller monitor in order to afford a good quality one. After all, it is the monitor which you stare at all day! I very highly recommend Dell! (I purchased the P4 1.8 GHZ) with 256 meg of RDRAM. Very fast!
