My alma mater is Syracuse University and I am thrilled to see that the men's basketball team is in the final four of the 2013 NCAA Basketball tournament. Although neither my husband nor I drink alcohol (He may have a drink or two a year.), we pulled out our Bergamot Syracuse Orangemen Square Shot Set to commemorate the team's success thus far. These shot glasses are very well made, heavy, and decorative. I use them for decoration but they are perfectly functional glasses.

About the Set

The Bergamot Syracuse Orangemen Square Shot Set was made a few years ago at least because we have had the set at least that long. There are four square glass 2 ounce shot glasses to the set with the bold orange logo displayed on a pewter background. The glasses have a very heavy bottom and won't tip over easily. They can be washed in the dishwasher but I never do that. I am afraid the logo/name will scratch off. I hand wash my set and dry them carefully and they look like new.

My Experience

Sure, I could use the Bergamot Syracuse Orangemen Square Shot Set to actually serve drinks if we ever had a party or gathering where people drank shots but we never do. Hard drinkers, we are not. This set was given to us as a gift along with some other SU memorabilia by my husband's boss and we use it for decorative purposes.

Because we are die hard Orangemen (and Orangewomen) fans throughout the year, this set would be at home on a shelf or stand year round. However, I usually don't bring the glasses out until basketball season, especially if Syracuse University is doing well. They look great on our small wooden shelf on the wall with a glass SU plate behind them which was also a gift.

The orange is vivid and the logos are well applied and look sharp. The pewter behind the logo makes the glasses almost reflective and adds class. These glasses are great both as actual shot glasses and as decorative pieces. They're very hardy. I have dropped one on the floor and it didn't break (thankfully). Naturally they will chip or crack if dropped on a very hard surface or otherwise mishandled but they're definitely not fragile.

You can purchase the Bergamot Syracuse Orangemen Square Shot Set wherever officially licensed NCAA products are sold. I have never seen them offline but I am sure they are out there. I have seen them online at a number of sports products stores. The prices varies. I saw the set for $20.00 on one site which I think is about the going rate.

My Verdict

Obviously you won't appreciate these shot glasses if you're not a Syracuse University fan but they do make glasses just like these with other college team logos if you're so inclined to buy a set. The Bergamot Syracuse Orangemen Square Shot Set is a sturdy four piece shot glass set that is functional but also decorative. My nephew collects shot glasses and he has a set of these in his collection. We are just fans of the Orange and like to bring out the team products we have when March Madness comes along - or any time we feel like displaying our loyalty to the college and its sports teams. I give this set 5 stars. There's nothing NOT to love!
