In this age of electronic delivery of all things that used to be print, one would thing that a web-site dedicated to delivering magazine to your doorstep would be dead, or at least dying. But the truth is I like millions of other people, including my spouse, love (paper) magazines. Not only are they easier to read than their electronic counter-parts, but they make for colorful decorations when left scattered about the house. And who wants to take an iPad into the bathroom during, well, you know?
So when it came time to dive into a new magazine subscription of Men’s Health, Car & Driver, and Yachting, I turned to Magazines.com for the no fuss affordable order.
The Product
Magazines.com sells magazine subscriptions at very affordable rates. On the very colorful site you will find just about every magazine—including Playboy—published in the United States. Magazines.com is your one-stop shop; find a magazine, place it in you cart, and order. Magazines.com handles the subscription thereafter including e-mailed renewal notices.
But magazines are not all the site has to offer; they sell book, newspaper & journal subscriptions, calendars, movies, and fragrances (huh?) as well. Heretofore I have only purchased magazine subscriptions from Magazines.com so I cannot speak to the other products in terms of quality or timely delivery.
Prices on the site match or beat those one will find on the subscription postcard usually found inside the magazines themselves. For instance my subscription to Car & Driver Magazine coast me just $12.00 for a 15 month subscription and includes shipping & handling, and no tax! Similar deals can be found all over the site.
An added bonus: go through MyPoints.com (I am a member) and receive up to 500 points per order when you spend $18.00 or more at Magazines.com.
Impressions
We have had a subscription to Country Living Magazine and Cat Fancy Magazine, and Redbook Magazine, through Magazines.com for the past five years and have never missed an issue. Subscription renewals have always been timely. The few times I have had to contact Magazines.com customer service, my experience has always been very pleasant and the issues resolved to my satisfaction.
When we moved recently I logged onto the Magazines.com website, changed out address in one place, and presto, our magazine subscriptions followed us to our new place of residence. I didn’t miss having to call (3) different customer service lines to change the address.
Conclusions
I have no complaints concerning any aspect of Magazines.com; it is easy to find the magazine you want, at a very affordable price, and the customer service is excellent. Three weeks after placing my order for Car & Driver Magazine, I received my first issue. Oh, and I paid through PayPal; very convenient. For me there is no place else I would go for the magazines I want; Magazines.com is my one-stop shop for magazines. Now about books…
