This is an impressive concept with a lot of hardware for the money. Web comments about the Audigy series were generally positive, so I bought the eX for use with home audio recording, expecting it's reported 2-4 ms latency with ASIO would be dandy for Cubase.
After installing the hardware, I booted my PC and Windows 2000 was able to use the soundcard for system sounds without problem. I installed the base Audigy software without the freebie add-ons, to start as simply as possible.
The Audigy software installed and seemed to run on reboot, but no sound came out of the card. Even Windows 2000 couldn't use the card for system sounds at that point.
I spent nearly two days trying various combinations of software and exploring Audigy options, but no luck. I may have missed something, but with a Computer Science degree and 20 years experience, I concluded something wasn't kosher and returned the unit.
For the record, I have an ASUS A7V133 motherboard running a 1GZ Athlon. This may just be a compatability issue, but I'm stumped.
I hope Creative corrects this problem, because on specs alone, the Audigy is a winner.
