Overpromised? (Reply to this comment)

Though a tad late for this season, I wanted to offer some suggestions for the holiday shoppers with regards to barnesandnoble.com. I placed a rather large and varied order of books and CDs on December 7, 2002. Many of these items were to be shipped in 24 hours. At the latest, one item was to take 2-3 days. To make a long story short, one item arrived after Christmas, and many others arrived during the time frame of December 20-24. I would suggest to readers of this review to simply visit the local store. I was pleasantly surprised to find some of the more obscure titles on the shelf. The employees at the store were extremely helpful. Online customer service had a recorded message for everyone prior to an extended hold. "If you placed an order on or before December 16th, please be assured your free shipping option has been upgraded to ensure delivery by Christmas." Unfortunately, BN overextended themselves this holiday season. Surprisingly, the stores were not overrun with patrons. So for the future, try your local Barnes and Noble store if you absolutely have to have your order by a certain date.

a B&N about one mile from our house, so I do take a respite from the computer to be there live and in person, great review. Thank you, too, for adding me to your WOT. I'm honored. JBD
