I have bought and sold items thru half.com for about a year, finding it more suitable for my needs than ebay, even tho they are now connected. With ebay, you list an item for sale, and it is then offered for auction. You must pay a fee to list items to sale, and once the auction is over, if the item has not sold, you must either pay again to have it listed again, or pull it.
With half.com, you list the items for sale, but rather than an auction, you choose your own price (they do offer recommendations), add some detail about it, if you want, then the listing is there. There is NO time limit, and you do not have to pay anything to list items. I have had a couple things listed for nearly a year, at no cost. The listings are easy to edit or change, half.com updates your account several times a day, and it is really quite easy to sell items there, if you price them right.
I sell about 7-10 cds and 5-7 books a DAY - they include a shipping charge to the customer, and I can see a pretty decent cash flow.
Customers then rate you, which adds to your ranking, but even without many customers, or with a lower ranking, the listings are according to the selling price....so you can be the top listed seller quite easily.

"Everything Else" - a new category, where you can list any other item for sale.
Overall, I think it's a great site, easy to navigate, and if you already have an ebay account, they can now be combined, with extra exposure to your ebay items, as well as also selling things with half.com.
I highly recommend this site, and invite you to 'check it out'.
My listing id is "haremdancer-half", so if you see me, send a note saying hello!
