The Qwest for Mediocrity

Pros:They offer the best service plans in the business.
Cons:Poor customer service and too many tech problems to list here.
The Bottom Line: Go with Verizon. I will be.

During my first year with Qwest, service was great. So great that I decided to drop my land line and go full-on digital. What a mistake. Shortly after what I understood as signing up for a new service plan (beginning of year 2) I began encountering the problems listed in the following paragraph. At that point began a long and frustrating series of service calls and software updates that to this date haven't solved any of the problems I had with the phone. I threatened to drop the service but was told by an in store rep that I was under contractual agreement with the new service plan and could not cancel early without penalty. Well, today I called to find out when my service plan was up (I knew the date was near) and the rep on the phone told me that for the last year I was under no contractual service plan. So the rep at the Qwest store lied to me. Grrrrrr...

That leads us into the specific issues. My list of grievances with Qwest is long. Problems that I've had with the phone and customer service are as follows: had my phone replaced 4 (yes, four) times only to encounter identical problems, frequently dropped calls, inaccurate billing and slow resolution of issues, a unexplainable clicking noise that interrupts calls without warning or reason, calling customer service at least twice a month over a two year period, was told by an in store rep that I shouldn't expect too much from a cellular phone since they are basically glorified walkie-talkies, and generally unfriendly/dishonest reps at the both Qwest stores in the metro area. If that isn't enough, I actually overheard a Qwest rep (on the clock at the Qwest store) recommend that a customer sign up with Sprint because they have better coverage of the Twin Cities. Unbelievable.

Go Verizon, go.
