Let's take it easy, guys. I'd say there was truth to both the review and kweckstrom's comments. The Epson line of photo quality printers will certainly put out a page in the quoted amount of time, but those are generally at the lower quality settings. The 5x7 photos I've printed at the 2880x720 DPI setting have generally taken about 8-10 minutes each. Two on a page averages about 20 minutes. Please note that I'm referring to the 820 model, which has different specs than the 1280. I agree with opinionated, my goal is top notch print quality rather than overall speed. Regardless of speed ratings, this is a good quality photo printer and a worthwhile buy.

If you read my review I stated that the print speeds were what Epson states they are. I never misstated anything. I don't it is necessary for you to slam my review just because you don't agree with my glowing recommendation of this printer. I personally don't buy a inkjet printer because it is faster than every other printer on the market. I go by quality of the print, if I want speed I am going to buy a color laser. You have your opinion and I have mine. Why do you find it necessary to slam me just because you don't agree?

Misleading print times. (Reply to this comment)

You should get out your stopwatch instead of agreeing with misleading comments from epson. I've owned the 1280 for over a year now, and the print times they advertise are at the lower quality settings.
If you want a photo that LOOKS like a photo, you turn on microweave, borderless printing and 1440 dpi for a 4x6. Print time? 10 minutes. If you're lucky. Then you get a photo worthy of the word in the printer's model name.
Maybe you should update your epinion to show some real print times as opposed to the propaganda Epson prints on the box?
Part of this comment was based on the crap you posted on my s9000 epinion, which basically compared this printer to the S9000 (I own both). I think you're definitely "opinionated" since you plinked down the $500 on the epson. I think that's made you jaded.

Heather,
I haven't had much experience with Canon inkjet printers, but I have read mixed reviews on both sides. I have been an advocate of Epson inkjets for quite some time. I would make a recommendation if you have had so much problems Canon no matter how great of deal the Canon may sound. Go with an Epson inkjet printer, I have not seen any Canon out print an Epson. If you ever need advice on choosing a printer drop me an email and I would be glad to offer my advice.

Nice review as usual (Reply to this comment)

Nice quality review as usual Jon.
I actually preferred the Canon S9000 printer due to the high quality picture output... and the six separate ink cartridges. Too bad the text quality isn't up to par with the picture quality.
I'm a bit surprised to hear than Epson stuck with a 5 color ink cartridge for a wide format printer... oh well.

I wish I had this review when I was looking for a printer last year. We went with a Cannon and everyone we have ever had, we have had to replace about 2 years later. Next stop, Epson!!!

I'm revelling in being able to click on a printer review and know that it will be great. :-) Because of course your reviews are consistently excellent, and this one's no exception. Thanks for a detailed and well-written review!
