The Bottom Line: As long as you are knowledgeable with the installation of PC hardware this is a snap! I'm highly pleased with the performance!

Although the Philips installation instructions leave MUCH to be desired, I am highly pleased with its performance.
The only strange thing with this drive is that you have to install drivers before installing the unit (most CD drives don't need drivers - odd). But installation was simple, even with the oddball instruction manual.
I have had multiple burner problems in the past with other brands. I trusted my gut feeling and decided to try a Philips(afterall, Philips invented the medium, they should be able to make a good burner - right?). I have no complaints about the drive at all! I have been able to burn several disks with the only coasters coming from some bad media (stay away from Maxell "music" disks!). I have several TDK, Memorex , and Maxell (white label) that record just fine. Not a single coaster (on good media)!
This is a good drive!
