this speaker system are good for most out door system, let me tell you about my musical experienced with it, I recently spent a vacation at one of our 5 star hotels here in Manila and that is in The W E S T I N Philippine Plaza Hotel. I remained there for about 3 days and I always fond of going to the pool side, the mini golf course and the mini bars, I notice they are playing a music of a sort like a beach sound and a new breed of music the chill out projects album. I noted that several BOSE 151 are installed to coconut trees, the bar roof in the middle of the pool and several concrete wall's. I've seen about 10 units of those system scattered around the outdoor area and they sound quite good and the enclosure is pretty much a survivor because the hotel is located in front of Manila bay. so again its facing an awful sea water vapor. I stayed there at the pool side for about 3 to 4 hours everyday and I can feel the sea vapor sticking into my skin, so imagine if your exposed your system under the sun or rain it will surely test the amount of torture to your speaker's, but its a good thing about BOSE 151 they seems to be built to sustain this kind of environment and that is a good quality of construction as examined the enclosure is made of some kind of rubber plastic combination and the grill is made of a good quality of fine steel grill but again the driver it self is a full range speaker system thus if you hear it close the high frequency can be achieved but if you came to a far to a certain distance the high's almost simply diminished. and the
system it self is rated at 4 - 8 ohms so if your planning to install a several 151 on your pool area I suggest you have a system configuration with BOSE first before installing it because your amplifier might blow up because of the speaker connection and impedance. so the over all quality is still quite good and by the way the 151's are accompanied by a BOSE 402 system which they use for the out door mini stage at the evening's for cultural presentation's. so a 5 star hotel got this system for their pool and golf area I'm sure they have engineering experts before they install it so maybe you can have them on your pool, loft, garden or any other outdoor application but be sure to inquire BOSE for the system configuration before installing it.
