| Kisai's Full Review: GBA Power for Game Boy Advance |
I bought one of these for my sister last Christmas, thinking it was going to be better than using AA batteries.
Well It is, the batteries it uses are NiMH (Nickel-Metal-Hydride) which are used in cheaper cell-phone batteries, and don't have the "memory effect" of NiCAD rechargeables. However they don't last as long as you expect, they last about 6 hours, depending on the game. It comes with two battery packs, one put in the GBA, and one in the charger, so you just alternate during periods of heavy use.
I was playing Wario Land 4 for hours on it, but when the batteries started getting weak, the LED on the GBA switches between RED and GREEN depending on what part of the game is being played. Kind of gives you some warning time.
The cradle/charging base is like a cell phone cradle/charging base, including the ability to put the second battery in and charge it when the main battery (in the GBA isn't in it.)
The charging period is pretty long though, I think it takes about as long to charge it up as it does to wear it out(about 6 hours) which is similar to a NiCad battery charging time.
The battery packs and charging base are all the same color. You can get it in all the same colors you can get a GBA in.
Overall I think it was a good deal, it was cheap, about the same price as a few packages of normal brand-name batteries.
