Pros: decent coverage (that's not a really a pro, but i'm trying to be generous
Cons: billing, customer service, phone (may or may not be Worldcom's fault)
The Bottom Line: When they do bother to send you the bill, it takes an accountant to understand it.

| wisy77's Full Review: Worldcom Mobile Phone Service in New York |
As of now, among people who have experience w/ different carriers, MCI/Worldcom's billing issues have hit legendary status. They send you a bill about once every 4 months and by then, you have NO idea what the different charges are for & if they're valid or not. It's also tough coming up w/ $150 for each phone bill all of a sudden. If you're a little late, which may be understandable considering that their lack of promptness confuses your budget, they'll let loose the collection agents on you. Hey, their bills were MONTHS late, do they have a right getting so mad when we're a little late paying? If you call customer service, they will just give you different variations on "We don't care, where's our money?" I guess MCI's "merger" w/ Worldcom is causing them difficulties.
On the radio on the Tom Moreno show (the name of the show escapes me, but I think that's it), they said if you threaten MCI w/ breach of contract for their non-compliance w/ billing, customer service will start giving you leeway. I supposed someone actually read the fine print & learned something.
I still was planning on running until the end of contract because the coverage was decent, but my phone caused me to cancel early. My Audiovox's vibrate was too weak to feel, and the phone didn't alert me when I had voice-mail. This meant that if you had the phone on vibrate, you wouldn't know you were being called, and you wouldn't know that you were left a message. I missed a few very important calls this way. I don't know whether to blame Audiovox solely or to also pin some of it on MCI for offering such a bad phone.
That said, their plans are comparable with other carriers, and their coverage is decent. It's better than AT&T on Long Island, but worse, much worse than Sprint. If you're in NYC most of the time, you will be able to complete most of your calls.
