This time I was buying for my 16 year old daughter. Don't we all! And you would think she wanted clothes! Nope, she needed some books that she has to read and do reports on over the summer. (Poor baby, thought school was out, but hey, that’s the life of an honor student!)
Anyway this time I went to www.barnesandnoble.com and found just what I was looking for and right now for a short time, if you order 2 or more books you get shipping and handling for free. Sounded like a winner to me! And I got to go through “MY POINTS” and I got 2 points for every dollar spent! Another bargain.
Was she happy? Yeppers she was! Was I? You better believe it, because now she will leave me alone about ordering the books, and besides, I may read them also.
She needed "The Grapes of Wrath", "The Scarlet Letter" and I am so sorry I can't remember the other one correctly, but something like "Their Eyes are Watching God" I think, but I know I am not exactly right on the last one. At anyrate, they sound like good books, and I know the "Scarlet Letter" was a good movie, at least I thought so.

When you first come on the website you will find a very colorful page with a white background and dark green, black and light green writing.
Across the top you will find links for: Home, Bookstore, Out of Print, College Textbooks, Half Price Books, eBooks, Children, Audiobooks, Music, DVD & Video, Magazine Subscriptions, and Online Courses.
You will also find links that will take you to :Browse Books, What’s New, Bestsellers, Coming Soon, First Chapters and Recommended. Their search engine is also at the top and you can search via: Keyword, Title or Author.
Over on the left hand side you will find links that will take you the Featured Subjects and they have many to choose from! Mystery, Romance, Science Fiction, Photography just to name a few. When you click on these different links you will be taken to a page with selections on that topic. And there are always a lot to choose from!
You can find links for audio books, which a lot of people love to use. I personally do not! But those of you, who do, click this link and you will be taken to a new page that will give you all sorts of great options.
The photography link is pretty cool too! When I clicked this link I was taken to a page where I found all sorts of books on the subject. The current hit books, books on other countries of photography, the list was endless.
Also find across the very top of the homepage your shopping cart and checkout. You will also find a help section, your account, and a wish list and order status. These are great features on any website!
I also sign up for the free newsletters and I can shop by price of a book. They even offer a Magazine Store. The out of print is good also because sometimes a book I am looking for is no longer available and I will look there first.
You should read the privacy statement. And you can read all about Barnes & Nobles by following the links down at the bottom of the homepage. Really some interesting stuff!
And of course in the center of the homepage you will always find the current Best Sellers and Specials going on. You will find all kinds of information at the Help center and I highly recommend that you look there first.
Other Information
Setting up my account was very easy to do. And I like being able to check the status of my order at any time. I can also cancel my order if it has not been processed with no problems. After the order has been filled, it takes about 3 to 8 day standard s/h.
If I cannot find my answers to my questions on the help page I can fill out a form and email it to Customer Service Department and they will respond with no problems.

Standard Ground (UPS 3 Day Select/USPS Priority Mail/Choice Courier). $3.00 per order plus $0.99 per item. Depending upon availability, items shipped via Standard Ground arrive within 3-8 business days. Manhattan residents of NYC who order before 11 am may expect delivery by 7pm on the Same Day. Shipping and handling does vary depending on what you ordered. International customers should follow the links for their s/h procedures.
How I Feel
I spent a total of $30.20 with free shipping and handling. And all books will be shipped within 24 hours. I have used them before a while back and had no problems then, so I don’t expect any this time around.
The pages loaded quickly and I was able to find what I wanted with no problems. My daughter is happy, which makes me happy. The customer service people thus far have been friendly and my credit card information is safe using their site! And I really like that.
Barnes & Noble is a wonderful bookstore and their online store is just as great. Also keep in mind, should you be in a store you will find all sorts of wonderful things! So check them both out!
