Re: Most Awful Experience (Reply to this comment)

I'm sorry you had a bad experience, but we have since stayed at the Paki Maui again and once again - we completely enjoyed our experience. The room was beautifully redecorated and that location is unbeatable! I highly recommend this property.

Most Awful Experience (Reply to this comment)
by midoripup
Do not stay at this hotel if you have to. There is no air conditioning and it felt very unsafe. The travel agent said that it had been renovated but the only renovation was to the garden. The room we stayed in was awful. In the two days that we stayed there (We moved to a better safer hotel for the rest of our stay.) there were 2 police visits for stolen hotel guest property claims.

Paki Maui was nice (Reply to this comment)
by momski2
We stayed at the Paki Maui in October, 2002. We went with another family and stayed in two different units in this complex.
Our 1 bedroom unit was on the 4th floor with a balcony overlooking the beautiful courtyard with coi (fish) pond and beautiful tropical plants.
The other people we were traveling with had a 2 bedroom unit on the 3rd floor with a balcony overlooking a public park, the pool and the ocean.
Our 1 bedroom unit was VERY basic. It was clean, but the carpets were worn as well as the bathroom fixtures. We had small ants in the kitchen (which they sprayed for while we stayed there). So we opted to eat and cook in the other unit.
They also had grills, and we did use them. The kitchens were stocked with basics utensils, but not with salt & pepper. Which we remembered to bring. They did have coffee makers and coffee.
Our friends unit was VERY nice, spacious, new carpeting, nice artwork on the walls, looked like it was someone's private condo unit, sublet for tourists.
Again, there was no air conditioning in either unit, but being right on the ocean, we didn't need it. All the rooms had ceiling fans.
The location is nice. Right on the ocean, easy swimming no rip tides. Public park with swings within walking distance. The other tenants were very friendly. I spoke with many of them and many were repeat customers.
There was a great deli right across the street, as well as a pizza hut and fish market. (something to please everybody!!)
I would definitely stay there again, but inquire specifically about which room you will be staying in.

When I was . . . (Reply to this comment)

. . . a wee lad, my life's ambition was to be a beachcomber.
This sounds like the perfect locale.
Nicely done.
