Kid Crafts: Homemade Finger PaintsJan 18 '01 Write an essay on this topic. The Bottom Line I highly recommend using these types of crafts (finger paints, play dough, other things) with your kids. It helps with gross and fine motor skills. Every kid loves finger paint. Mine are no different. We go through huge amounts of finger paint. I believe in involving my kid's in almost daily craft project at home that we can share with each other. I found this recipe and it has saved our budget. Best of all kid's love to help make it. HOMEMADE FINGER PAINTS WHAT YOU WILL NEED: 1/2 cup cornstarch 1 cup cold water 1 envelope non flavored gelatin 2 cups hot water 1/2 cup detergent or soap flakes food coloring to desired color intensity 1. Divide cold water, dissolve gelatin in 1/4 cup and dissolve cornstarch in 3/4 cup cold water. 2, Add hot water to cornstarch mixture and cook over medium heat stirring constantly until it comes to a boil and is clear. 3. Remove from heat blend in softened gelatin. 4. Add detergent or soap flakes and stir until dissolved. Store in closed jars. Mason jars work very well. 5. Add food color as desired.
