Disappointing experience (Reply to this comment)
by kstrike
Recently attempted to finance a home purchase with priceline. $250 upfront for the application fee and to lock in the rate. Application arrived promptly, and my info was returned promptly. They contracted with an appraiser who simply disappeared. He came to the house, commented, took notes, etc... and vanished. Unfortunately, the loan processor (Who is separate from the salesman and VERY difficult to reach) did not check into the appraisal until 2 days before scheduled closing and called us in a rush stating that the closing would have to be postponned until they could locate another appraiser. This inflammed the seller and he decided to cancel the sale. What a fiasco.
I was very disappointed with priceline's ability to return my phone calls and respond in a timely manner and feel that their poor attention to detail cost us the purchase of our dream home. In the future, I would recommend staying with a local mortgage company despite the 0.5% rate improvement over our local lenders.

Unfortunately when I just tried to look up this site, it is no longer there. According to http://cfu2000.com: "PricelineMortgage is no longer available at cfu2000.com due to the fact that Priceline Mortgage is no longer marketing through affiliates web sites" I also can't seem to find it on priceline.com's website.

Yes. For a half a point on a 500,000 mortgage, I'll put up with just about anything.

Why 4 stars?? (Reply to this comment)

Based on your review I'd say you weren't real happy with Priceline Mortgage, yet you gave them 4 stars. Does the low interest rate really skew your rating that much?

P.S. read my review and be glad you didn't continue the process!!

you'll just have to wait for my next review.

Will that review be in 2003 or 2004?

Just kidding (and curious about your months-long silence). Good review.

Detailed response, and helpful, but------- (Reply to this comment)

Your analysis is well written and generally informative.

However, it would be much more meaningful if you had actually closed a loan with Priceline. Hope it works out for you, in any case and that you eventually close your loan!

. . . interesting perspective.

Kind of makes me glad that I am not in the refinancing mode at the moment.

Nicely done.

Hope you get the appraisal you want now that you did some work.

Great review. I had no idea that priceline did mortgages.
