Wow, I have been away from epinions for close to 2 months and I gotta say first It is great to be back!!! New site design here, not used to it yet but I'll adjust. Anyway I have lots of juicy info to spread through epinions from my experiences (good and bad) of the last couple months, so lets get going shall we?!
Our first stop on the journey takes us to holiday online shopping and Ebates. Ebates is a service that lets you earn cash back off of purchases made through online retailers that are partnered with Ebates.com, and DING DING DING its F-R-E-E!!! My favorite non explitive four letter word!
All you do is use the store link on their site... click, buy, and recieve cash back in amounts from 3-28%. Each store has a set amount cash back on your total purchase price next to the store's hyperlink. For example, lets say you or your loved ones stink. You decide "oooh cologne would be a great practical gift that will help everyone!" You go to ebates store page and decide to shop at FraganceNet.com. They offer an 8 percent rebate. You spend 100 dollars at this store and your ebates account is credited with 8 dollars.
When you really want to save money, my tip is to do an online coupon code search for a particular store that lets you save lets say 20 dollars off a purchase of 100 or more. Now you get a savings on the front end making your purchase only 80 dollars and a cash back bonus of 6.40 credited to your ebates account. This is what I did all during the holidays to really burn the candle from both ends of the savings wick.
Ebates offers a very large assortment of partner retailers including JCPennys, 123.com, Etoys, CDnow, Best Buy.com, you name it and its there. The catch here is you have to use the ebates hyperlink to connect to the store to make your purchase, otherwise you will not get credit for the
(r)ebate. Found this out the hard way - Learn from my mistake, don't repeat it!
All this aside you may be asking how and when do I recieve my money. You do actually recieve a check every 3 months when your balance exceeds 10 dollars. Plus last I checked you are required to donate a minimal percentage of your rebate check to a charity you select through ebates. I will be getting about 100 dollars in the next month and had to give 5 bucks of it to charity. Not bad considering it is still 95 dollars more than I would have had by shopping without ebates.
Some other miscellaneous info that may be of help to you include a product search on ebates that is powered by MySimon search engine. Their customer service is good, I did have to dispute one purchase made via ebates that I did not recieve credit for, eventually I did. Right now since I am a relatively new user of ebates I have to give it four stars. I will rerate to 5 if and when I recieve my money in the timeframe laid out by ebates.com
